{DT} - life is what you make it

Hi everyone and happy  Wednesday :-)

It's the 30th of November and this means reveal of a new sketch at cardabilities provided by Karan Gerber!

This time I got a bit messy and tried something more 'arty' than I usually do.
Not sure if I like the result, but it definitely was lots of fun to create it :-)

and here are some close ups of my card (can you see the lovely shimmer I got by using some Glimmer Mists?)

and this is Karan's sketch I followed to create the above card:

card recipe:
  • stamps - Whimsy Stamps: 'The Fun Life Tickets' by Raindrop Echo Designs
  • patterned papers - Jillibean Soup 'Dutch Mustard Soup' collection

Brrr....

Hi everyone and happy Tuesday :-)

Today I want to share a card with you that I made 'just because':  No special DT work... just for fun ;-)

ETA: Thanks so very much, Lydia for featuring this little winter card on the SCS Facebook page!

As soon as I saw the new 'Snowfall' collection by Bo Bunny I fell in love with the colors and patterns and just had to have this adorable collection! What I did not know the time I ordered them is that they have lots of glitter on their papers. *phew*... it's not easy to work with 12x12 papers that have lots of glitter all over their patterns and use them for cards... (well at least that's what I thought when I got them first) .. but now I just started creating and I think the result is neat with all the glitter ;-)

The blue background is a specialty cardstock by Bazzill and it has a little bit of subtle shimmer what I think is just gorgeous!

card recipe:
  • stamps - Bo Bunny Press 'Snowfall' clear stamps
  • patterned papers - Bo Bunny Press 'Snowfall' collection
  • cardstock - Bazzill blue specialty shimmer cardstock
  • tools - Big Shot
  • other supplies - Spellbinders 'Label 20' die, Spellbinders 'Classic Circles Large' die, Sew Sweet chalk white crinkled seam binding, Bo Bunny Press 'Snowfall' jewels, Jenni Bowlin decorative pearl pin, Sakura white gel pen, Ranger Vintage Photo Distress inks, Colorbox Frost White pigment ink, Glue Dots, paper piecing tool and foam tape from stash,

{DT} - Winter Wonderland

Hi everyone and happy Sunday :-)

It's time for another Card Caravan Challenge
I'm your host this fortnight and since I love everything sparkle (especially around the holidays) I dare you to 'make it sparkle' :-)

If you'd like to play along, just hop on over to The Hybrid Chick and enter your creation there!

To create my card I used paper from 'Visions of Sugarplum' by Danielle Engebretson and sentiment rubber stamps from the new Whimsy Stamps 'Sleigh Ride' sentiment set by Raindrop Echo Design.

To create the locket behind the sentiment and the trim I just used some wool felt instead of cardstock/paper to cut them out! The die cuts I used are both from the 'Fleur de Lis Accents' die set by Spellbinders

I also added some blue rhinestones and Stardust Stickles (because that's the challenge: make it sparkle ;-) )

card recipe:
  • stamps - Whimsy Stamps: 'Sleigh Ride' sentiment set by Raindrop Echo Design
  • patterned papers - 'Visions of Sugarplums' by Danielle Engebretson
  • tools - AEG Mini sewing machine, Big Shot
  • other supplies - Spellbinders 'Fleur de Lis Accents', Spellbinders 'Classic Circles Large', Bazzill blue cardstock, Divine Twine Aqua baker's twine, Sew Sweet mullberry wool felt, Kaisercraft blue rhinestones, Ranger Stardust Stickles, Ranger Distress Broken China inks, foam tape from stash

Gift Bag

Hi everyone and happy Friday :-)

Today I want to show you a gift bag I made some weeks ago, using the 'Emporium' digi kit by The Digichick Designers.

I made a huge paper flower by die cutting some pages of an old book and some tissue paper with the largest of the Spellbinders scalloped circles dies, then crumpled and misted them all with some blue Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists.

After drying I layered and secured them all with a huge pearl brad, then put some Stickles all around the edges of the flower.

Close up of the paper flower:
I hope you liked my little gift bag and wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

card recipe:
  • patterned papers - 'Emporium' by The Digichick Designers
  • tools - AEG Mini Sewing machine, Big Shot
  • other supplies - VBS kraft bag, Spellbinders scalloped circles large, May Arts white sheer ruffle ribbon, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Frost, Kaisercraft white pearl brad, Ranger Stickles Stardust, Ranger Distress inks Vintage Photo, white thread from stash, old book pages from stash, tissue paper from stash, Glue Dots Mini Glue Dots

{DT} - Last Day of Whimsy Stamps November Release Showcase

Hi everyone and happy Wednesday :-)
I'm glad you stopped by my blog and I hope you had a great week so far!

Today is our last day of our Whimsy Stamps November Rubber Die Release Showcase!

Here's my little project (a Christmas candle) using the adorable 'Wee Let It Snow' rubber stamp by Sylvia Zet and the 'Layered Snowflake Dies' set.
And here you can see the original 'label' before wrapping it around the candle ;-)

Sorry for the not so good pictures, but good daylight is hard to get these days *sigh*
Everything that looks so greyish/muddy on the first picture is actually a beautiful bright twinkling white (like you can see it in the second picture). It's all colored with Heavenly White Twinklings, but I wasn't able to catch that in the picture yesterday evening :-/

And the RED is NOT that bold IRL *lol* I think it's because I must have used wrong camera settings yesterday while shooting the pictures :-(

To take a peek at all the other fab new release creations my fellow DT team mates and our special guests made for the last day of our showcase, please visit the blogs of these amazingly talented women:

2nd LO ever *phew*

Hi everyone and happy Tuesday :-)

A little 'warning' upfront: I am currently trying to get into scrapbooking... but... mmm... well.... it's a long, hard way *lol* I am trying, experimenting and learning... and here's what I came up with using the current sketch #59 from Sketchabilities provided by Karan Gerber!
(I hope Karan doesn't mind me bungle her wonderful sketch with my amateurish LO ;-))) )

To be honest, I'm kind of happy with the result (for me as an absolute beginner *lol*)!

Ok ok ok .... I admit I have to practice getting good pictures of this large 12x12 size (that has been the most difficult part on this LO for me *lol*)
I think the page looks nicer IRL than here on the pictures... also the white strokes are NOT that 'bold' and contrasting!!! They are much more subtle IRL .. just adding a little bit of texture to the page.
As I said before.. I have to practice getting good pictures *sigh*

Anyway... it's a beginner's LO (it's my second traditional LO I ever made)... so please bear with me!

Any constructive criticism is more than welcome!

{DT} - celebrate the moment

Hi everyone and happy Sunday :-)

Welcome to our next installment of The Hybrid Chick Card Caravan Challenge.
This next two weeks we want you to create 'something birthday' - I guess that's not too difficult, is it? ;-)

I created a card where I did some experimenting by mixing up styles that normally aren't used together *g*
I started with a 'shabby, vintage' looking background by choosing a blue floral background paper from 'The Sun Will Come Out' by Sugarplum Paperie and then distressed it with Walnut Stain Distress inks to give it that little shabby look. I also used my beloved seam binding and pearls, which normally is associated with the vintage look.

But I then ran a little crazy with some doodling ;-)  I recently discovered the blog from a super talented German lady: Janna Werner's Papiersalat. And she does doodling all the time and it looks so beautiful!
Well.. I also did some doodling myself .. ages ago .. but however, I totally went off of this when I began doing more cute cards a few years ago. But now that I've seen it again I wanted to incorporate some doodling into my card. Thanks for the inspiration, Janna :-)

If you are following me for some time now, you should know that I love experimenting and doing unexpected things ;-)  And even though this really is a crazy mix of styles, I kind of like the result, although. And I hope you like it a bit, too :-)

and a close up
(Where you can see that I have to practice doodling a little bit, because I made a little mistake with the circle doodling around the sentiment. But well, I think that's doodling: nothing perfect, but fun :-) )

card recipe:
  • stamps - Whimsy Stamps  'Birthday Letter Seals' rubber stamps by Raindrop Echo Design
  • coloring medium - Tombow Dual Brush pens, Sakura black and white gel pens, Distress inks in Broken China and Walnut Stain
  • patterend papers and flower element - 'The Sun Will Come Out' by Sugarplum Paperie
  • other supplies - Sew Sweet white crinkled seam binding, Kaisercraft orange rhinestones and blue halfpearl, Fiskars border punch, foam tape from stash

{DT} - Christmas Snails :)

Hi everyone and happy Sunday :-)

Today is the first Sunday in November (oops.. is it really November already?!) and that means there's a new challenge starting at
Let's Ink It Up Challenges

This time we want to see you using your favorite technique
I have many techniques, I like to use and decided to do some distressing with inks on this card

The lovely Nancy from Lelo Design just asked me, if I want to do a little bit of guest designing to help spread the word about her new winter/christmas collection and I was happy to accept, because I really like her cute images.. especially the super sweet snails, she always draws!

So here's my card using one of the brand new (yesterday released) Lelo stamps from the 2011 winter/christmas collection:
I colored all of the snow parts with Twinklings H2O in heavenly white which gives it a nice and subtle shimmer, but unfortunately it doesn't show in the picture.
