So Lovely To Know You

Hi everyone and happy Tuesday :)
Today is another 'look over my shoulder' day ;) 
I am not only sharing the finished card, but also step by step how it came together
For this card I used patterned papers from Glitz Design's "Cashmere Dame", a sentiment stamp from Whimsy Stamps (the set is called "ATouch of Elegant Furniture"), a Martha Stewart "Doily Lace" border punch and a Prima Marketing 'Say it in Crystals' embellishment

Hallo zusammen und Euch allen einen wunderschönen Dienstag :)
Heute ist wieder mal "schaut mir über die Schulter" Tag ;)
Ich zeige Euch nicht nur die fertige Karte, sondern eben auch Schritt für Schritt, wie sie entstanden ist.
Für diese Karte habe ich gemusterte Papiere aus der Glitz Design's "Cashmere Dame" Serie, einen Sprüche-Stempel von Whimsy Stamps (das Stempelset heißt "ATouch of Elegant Furniture"), einen  Martha Stewart "Doily Lace" Bordüren Stanzer und Prima Marketing 'Say it in Crystals' Embellishments benutzt.

My starting point was a simple sketch I had in mind
Mein Ausgangspunkt war ein einfacher Sketch den ich im Kopf hatte

Then I decided which papers to use: Glitz Design "Cashmere Dame"  and cut them into rectangles (the large one was cut to 4.25 x 5.5 inches)
Dann habe ich entschieden, welche Papiere ich benutzen möchte, nämlich die Glitz Design "Cashmere Dame"  und die habe ich dann in Rechtecke geschnitten (entsprechend dem Sketch; das große Rechteck ist 4.25x5.5 inches - also amerikanische Standardgröße)
 
As soon as I had made this paper decision, it was obvious I could not do a CAS card but this card would rather result in a shabby chic card in the end :D
So I had to do some distressing with inks all around the papers ( I just LOVE distressing my papers using ink!) 
Nachdem nun also die Entscheidung für diese Papiere gefallen war, war es irgendwie auch klar, das ich nun keine sogenannte CAS (=clean and simple) Karte mehr daraus machen konnte, sondern das es wohl eher in einer "Shabby Chic" Karte resultieren würde :D
Also musste ich natürlich auch die Ränder der Papiere distressen (ich LIEBE es meine Papierränder zu distressen!)

Ohhh... and of course, no shabby chic card without using some pretty lace or ribbon! :)
I especially love my crincled seam binding for this kind of cards, so I pulled out everything I had in the colors that are incorporated in my papers... now which one to choose? :D
Ohhhh.. und natürlich kann es keine Shabby Chic Karte ohne hübsche Spitze oder Bänder geben! :)
Ganz besonders liebe ich meine geknüddelten Bändchen für diese Art von Karten, also hab' ich alles vorgekramt was ungefähr den Farben entspricht, die in meinen gewählten Papieren enthalten sind... so und nun.. welches soll ich nehmen? :D

Ok, hier sind nun also die beiden "Finalisten" und am Ende habe ich mich für das cremefarbene Bändchen entschieden

 

Mmm... I think it really needs a little bit more! So I cut a small rectangle from the turquoise paper - same width as my card, used a Martha Stewart border punch for the bottom part and then I also distressed this strip with inks 
Hmm... ich denke, da fehlt schon noch was! Also hab' ich noch ein schmales Rechteck von der Breite der Karte zugeschnitten und mit einem Martha Stewart Bordüren Stanzer am unteren Ende bearbeitet und das Ganze dann auch nochmal distressed.

Now onto the ribbon and bow part: there are a ton of tutorials on how to tie a bow on the net, so I thought you don't need to be bored with another one from me :D

But I want to share my special way of  "wrapping" a card with ribbon and tie a bow as I usually do it:

I cut a strip a little bit wider than the card, then I adhere the loose ends on the back of the card using some tape. And after this is done, I'm tying a bow from the same ribbon. Then I decide where it should be placed on the card and there I pinch the wrapped ribbon together and adhere it with a mini glue dot (see picture below). That way it does not look like the bow was just glued down on the flat ribbon, but like it was tied from the ends of the ribbon :D 

It's all about the perfect illusion ;-)

Jetzt zum Bänder- und Schleifen-Teil: Es gibt wirklich tonnenweise Tutorials, wie man schöne Schleifen macht im Netz, also denke ich das ich Euch nicht auch noch mit einem von mir langweilen muss :D

Aber ich möchte Euch gerne zeigen, wie ich normalerweise meine Bänder "um die Karte binde":

Ich schneide mir ein Stück Band zurecht, das etwas länger als die Breite der Karte ist, dann befestige ich die losen Enden auf der Rückseite der Karte mit normalem Klebefilm.

Dann schneide ich mir noch ein Stück Bändchen zurecht, aus dem ich dann meine Schleife binde. Danach entscheide ich, wo genau die Schleife hinkommen soll und an dieser Stelle drücke ich das geklebte Band auf der Karte zusammen und befestige es so mit einem Mini Glue Dot. Auf diese Art und Weise wirkt es später so, als ob man wirklich das Bändchen um die Karte geschlungen und die Enden zu einer Schleife gebunden hätte und man sieht nicht das die Schleife einfach auf das Band geklebt wurde :D

Es geht doch nichts über eine perfekte Illusion ;-)

Before finally adhering the bow (with another glue dot) I pulled out some Prima swirls to see what would be a nice fit for the card. I layed the bow in place and I also layed down the stamp I wanted to use so it was easier to judge where the bling should go. Aren't these "Say It In Crystal" embellishments by Prima adorable? I just love them! I have a ton of them in my stash *lol* 

Bevor ich die Schleife aber endgültig aufklebe (was ich wiederum mit Glue Dots mache), habe ich mir ein paar Prima Schnörkel zurecht gelegt um zu schauen, welches am Besten passt. Ich habe also die Schleife mal so hingelegt, wie sie später festgeklebt werden soll, dann habe ich den Stempel an die entsprechende Stelle gelegt - so kann ich einfacher entscheiden wie und wo ich den Schnörkel hinhaben möchte. Sind diese Prima "Say It In Crystals" Schnörkel nicht einfach umwerfend schön? Ich liebe diese Dinger! Und ich hab' wirklich eine Unmenge hier in meinem Bestand *lol*

 

Then I stamped the sentiment "So Lovely To Know You" with some brown Versafine ink and adhered the Prima Swirl.

Jetzt habe ich den Spruch "So Lovely To Know You" mit braunem Versafine gestempelt und den Schnörkel befestigt.

Mmmm..... what's wrong? I guess, it's not well balanced!
I think the swirl is a little bit 'too much' and on the other hand there's something missing...
I first snipped off the top swirl from the embellishment.
And for the little extra 'something', I did what I love to do: a little bit of faux stitching using a ruler, a paper piercing tool and a white gel pen :)

Hmmmm... was ist hier "falsch"? Ich denke mal das Design ist einfach nicht ausgewogen!

Der Schnörkel ist irgendwie zuviel und auf der anderen Seite fehlt auch noch irgendwas...

Also habe ich zuerst mal den oberen Teil des Schnörkels entfernt (mit einer kleinen spitzen Schere kann man das gut abknipsen).

Und für das kleine "Extra", was noch gefehlt hat, konnte ich natürlich nicht widerstehen und hab' noch ein bisschen "faux stitching" (also falsche Nähte) angebracht, indem ich einfach ein Lineal, einen Papier-Piekser und einen weißen Gelstift dazu benutzt habe :)

Something still seemed to be "wrong" with this card... 
I decided the card needs a little bit of 'grounding' (because of the bold turquoise) and therefore I cut a card base from cream cardstock, that I cut slightly larger than the card front and then I also did some ink distressing all around the edges.

Aber irgendwie scheint immer noch etwas nicht ganz richtig zu sein bei der Karte....

Ich habe mir überlegt, das die Karte irgendwie noch eine Art von "Fundament" benötigt. Da hier soviel kräftiges Türkis in der Karte vorhanden ist, wollte ich das noch durch eine cremefarbene Kartenbasis ausgleichen. Also habe ich einfach cremefarbenen Cardstock zugeschnitten, so das nachher die Kartenbasis etwas größer ist als die eigentliche Karte. Um die Ränder hab' ich auch wieder mit dunkler Tinte gewischt

Since I did not plan to 'ground' the card, the card is now slightly larger than the standard size, but well... it still fits into an envelope (well at least in a German DIN C6 envelope ;-) )

Da ich dieses "Fundament" zu Beginn nicht vorgesehen hatte ist die Karte im Ganzen nun ein wenig größer als im Standard vorgesehen, aber was soll's... sie passt immer noch in einen Umschlag (naja, zumindest in einen deutschen DIN C6 Umschlag ;-) )
